Is there anything better during these cooler months than sitting around a fire, snuggled up beneath a blanket, sipping on a delicious, decadent hot chocolate? Of course we already know your answer – no, there is nothing better!
But of course if you wish to improve upon this ideal setting even further, you could always spice up your warm, chocolaty drink. And we do mean this literally with one of our favourite winter warming recipes for a Spiced Hot Chocolate.

SPICED HOT CHOCOLATE RECIPE
Serves 6
INGREDIENTS:
6 cups milk
200g dark chocolate, chopped
2 cinnamon sticks
2 whole star anise
1/2 tspn ground nutmeg
1/2 tspn vanilla bean paste
Brown sugar, to taste
METHOD:
1. Combine milk, chocolate, cinnamon sticks, star anise, nutmeg and
vanilla bean paste in a saucepan over a low heat and cook, stirring
occasionally, for 5 minutes or until chocolate melts. Remove from
heat and discard cinnamon sticks and star anise.
2. Use a hand blender to whisk until mixture froths. Pour into glasses
to serve and add sugar to taste.
3. For an extra decadent treat, add a shot of your favourite liqueur
to each glass!
