The Lindfield area was settled in the 1850s. Suburban development in East Lindfield occurred mostly in the 1950s and 1960s, so most of the houses in East Lindfield are newer and have a different style to those of Lindfield, which mostly pre-date World War II. East Lindfield became a separate suburb from Lindfield when it was gazetted on 5 August 1994.
At just 15kms from Sydney’s CBD, East Lindfield is surprisingly quiet and tranquil with a choice of lovely parks. The local shopping centre is located on Wellington Road and is popular with locals enjoying a hidden local gem of a cafe, Deli in the Park, serving excellent Vittoria coffee in a relaxed atmosphere opposite a fenced park for the children.
