Inspired by the funky inner city markets, Peter and Jacqui Landis felt that the North Shore community deserved something similar.

Launching in 2015, That Great Market presents an exciting marketplace and curated space with a mix of quality products, including homewares, fashion, jewellery and art. There’s also a great range of delicious food and gourmet products to try.

“We are very much about community” says Jacqui “I grew up in the North Shore and I always felt like everything shuts down...”

Being Turramurra residents themselves, Peter and Jacqui felt that what the North Shore community needed most was a market in which local businesses and charities could promote themselves and provide the community with a greater range of options because otherwise “there just isn’t a lot of choice” says Jacqui.

“Some people just have an idea and we provide an affordable platform for them to execute that idea.” Peter says, and the same goes for charities.

One notable stall is the ‘Bread and Butter Project’. Selling out very quickly, this fresh baked goods stall is also raising money for a social justice program.

The initiative provides a free six week program for refugees where they teach them how to bake and how to improve their English language skills. All proceeds from the stall goes back into the project.

With That Great Market opening monthly and more markets “on the horizon” Jacqui and Peter feel more than ever the community is coming together to support each other, local businesses, and charities.

That Great Market is open on the 3rd Sunday of each month at East Lindfield Community Hall & Surrounds.
