MB'S 8 TIPS & TRICKS FOR CHRISTMAS

22-Dec-2017
Written by Luke Nolan-Harris
1. CHILL YOUR BOTTLE OF FIZZ IN A WHIZ.
In the rush of preparing your home for festive celebrations sometimes we manage to overlook the most important part of Christmas... Champagne! Well, to make sure your bottle of Veuve is dripping with condensation & is cold to the touch before your guests arrive, wrap it in a moist tea-towel and place it in the freezer for 20-30 minutes. This way you may actually be able to convince your guests that you planned ahead!

2. KEEP YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE PERKY.
Does your Christmas tree shed needles faster than your aunt finishes that first bottle of wine? Keep your Christmas tree perkier for longer this Christmas by placing it under air-conditioning or by a fan! Heat and direct sunlight are guaranteed to dry out your tree & in a climate like ours it's important to stay cool & hydrated.

3. WIN AT CHRISTMAS CRACKERS EVERY TIME!
Tired of your kids winning all the mini bottle openers & shoehorns year-on-year? Seriously, what use do they have for them? They probably don't even know what a shoe horn is!! Well it's your turn to bask in the glory this year. To make sure you come out on top just hold your end of the cracker lower so that it tilts towards you, and go for a slow, controlled pull. Not only will you find yourself victorious each-and-every-time, but you'll be a hero when you choose to give them the contents all the same!

4. SAVE MONEY ON WRAPPING PAPER.
Save money on tacky wrapping paper by keeping it simple! Buy a large roll of brown paper and wrap your gifts with that! Use some string to tie a bow and you've got yourself a display that's both charmingly old-fashioned & on-trend.

5. A CHRISTMAS COCKTAIL JUG.
Looking for a feesable way to make your family less insufferable this Christmas? Take a sip on this Christmas cocktail and you'll find your festive self in no time. Simply mix a bottle of your favourite sparkling, 500mls of cranberry juice & a splash of Cointreau or Grand Marnier, in a large caraf.

6. KEEP HANGOVERS AT BAY.
A study was conducted by a group of Chinese researchers on the effects of certain drinks in curing a hangover. The study found that some drinks can make your hangover significantly worse, and some better. They found that some herbal teas make your hangover worse! Whereas Sprite (Xue Bi in China) was found to relieve the symptoms of a hangover!

7. MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR LIGHTING.
When stringing the fairy lights in and out of the branches of your tree this Christmas, don't waste precious length by wrapping the whole tree. Keep your tree in a corner and that way you only have to wrap the lights through the parts people can actually see.

8. PACKING UP FOR NEXT YEAR.
And finally, once the relatives have gone home, the tree has wilted and wrapping paper suffocates the floorboards, it's time to clean up. It's too late to make the cleaning any easier, so instead, why not make next year a little easier. Use a spare coat hanger to string your lights, you'll find not only do they take up a lot less space this way, but when you go to unravel them next year there shouldn't be a tangle in sight.
