At the base of Bobbin Head Road begins a 4-kilometre “mountain” climb that is commonly frequented by cyclists.

The uphill stretch forms part of the monthly ‘Breakfast Networking Ride’ offered to Sydney workers (and early-risers) by cycling club, Global Cycle Rides (GCR).

“This is an opportunity for local cyclists to meet up with like-minded executives, ride together, enjoy breakfast and hear from a local speaker,” said founding member and avid cycler, Colin Pont.

The complimentary ride, sponsored by MB, leaves from Gordon and winds its way up to Hornsby, before dropping down into Bobbin Head.

“We have one group for the faster riders and another for those who are newer to the sport,” said Pont, adding the ride is offered in other capital cities, the UK, Europe and USA.

The international reach of GCR also extends further with the network operating road rides, including bike rental and ride leader, for business travellers across 34 cities.

“When I head overseas for work, it is never easy to find a bike. This movement allows travellers to get over their jet lag, stay fit and explore the city they’re in,” Pont said.

“It’s the AirBnB of cycling!”

‘Sydney Breakfast Networking Rides’ are held monthly. Head to the website to book an upcoming ride:
