Have you always been in real estate? If no, what’s your background?
No I haven’t, I’ve been in real estate and with McConnell Bourn for the past 10 years, but before that I worked in relocations. In working with expats and executives I was involved in real estate, along with other things, as I was searching for homes for them to rent and was responsible for helping them and their families settle in. That’s also how I got into real estate, whilst looking for a home for a client I met Suzanne & Matthew and they suggested that I come into the office to have a chat. The rest is history.

Why real estate?
With my background in relocations and being responsible for settling families into their new homes I found that I really enjoyed it. I felt that real estate was the next level of selling the dream and I really enjoy being involved in that process & dealing with people.

What made you want to become a sales agent?
Well when I went into that meeting with Matt & Suzanne it could have gone a couple of different ways, but Matt really convinced me that it was the right move. I just thought “why not, I’ll give it a whirl”. It definitely turned out to be the right move for me and was the best step towards career development.

What qualities do you think you need to be a great agent?
Team spirit, you definitely have to be good at working with your team, within an environment like this, team culture is so important. Externally, when dealing with clients, it’s important to maintain your integrity, remain transparent and you have to keep up to date with the industry. This is what will keep your reputation strong and intact. In an industry like this & on the North Shore especially, everybody knows everyone and people are going to talk, I feel reputation is very important. I’ve always had a really good network here, I’ve lived in East Lindfield for 12 years now, so it’s really important to have that integrity and maintain those relationships with everyone.

What’s your favourite thing about your job?
It would have to be the team I work with, I love working with Daniel. I’ve had a couple of different partners in my career, I was working with Matt for a while and that was great too. But the environment that I’ve got with Dan & Tom is great, there would be nothing worse than walking into the office and not liking the people you work with and for.

What do you like about working in a team with Daniel?
We think a lot alike! We’ve got the same goals, we are in sync with each other in terms of knowing exactly what our clients want, buyers and vendors alike. We also both have very high standards which means that we push each other to meet them. We never feel like we have to pull each other's’ slack and that’s really important in a team, that you know that your partner can actually work with you.

How did you end up working together?
When I first started at MB I was working alongside Matthew. Daniel joined our team a few years later and being a fan of a good English ‘cuppa’ we were destined to hit it off. We found that we enjoyed working as a team and have a similar sense of humour and makes work a lot fun.

What are three things you couldn’t live without?
My children & family, friends, and my health.

Where is your favourite place in the world? Whether it’s your couch at home or a cafe?
Well, it’s either got to be New York or London, because I’ve got a lot of family in both places. If I had to choose a favourite I would probably say New York. Why? The diversity and liveliness of the city, you just feel alive when you are there. The city is alive & I love that.

Do you have a secret talent? If so what is it?
I can cook pretty well but other than that...

What do you love most about MB?
As I’ve said it before, it’s the team, the culture & the family-friendly environment.
